Next we went to see Scotney Castle with its vast garden and old Castle.
The old Castle is very picturesque, featuring the ruins of a medieval moated manor house – it is on an island on a small lake. The lake is surrounded by sloping gardens with a wonderful collection of Rhodoendrons, Azaleas, Wisterias and Roses.
I have never seen so many blooming Rhododendrons together, it was the perfect time to visit.

I would love to live in a land (a specific one!) where castles are there to be visited and imagined about, surrounded by flowers and the stories that would be evoked.
I love my castles and try to visit many. Some have amazing stories, nice ones and gruesome ones. It is really interesting, in school I didn’t like history snd now I love to hear about history and how the people lived etc.
It’s one of my favorite parts of travel when we go to Ireland. Coming across ‘ruins’ or saved castles and abbeys. And the bonus of google these days is I can almost always find those stories.
Exaxtly, I knew you were referring to Ireland. True, Mr google can tell you all stories and that is rather interesting. What made people to build it where it is , what they thought when they design the garden and how they lived there.
