The University with an Aula

with paintings of Edvard Munch famous for his painting ‘The Scream

You can also visit the Rathus

a massive, dominant building at the harbour.

It took 19 years to build.

Its chimes you can hear every hour.

In this hall every year on 10th December the Nobel Prize is given out.

Today is …# 26 – a day to travel – Trip to Hohen Urach – Germany

Standard

On  a beautiful sunny day

I visited the Ruins of “Hohen Urach“,

above the town “Bad Urach”.

built as a castle, later used as a prison, then destroyed.

It plays part of the interesting local history.

We used to go up when I was a child.

Recently we revisited the ruins with a picnic up there.

A steep walk through forest, we arrived on this very unspoiled spot.

No shops, no cars, it is beautiful.

See for yourself:

Well worth a visit, take a picnic and

enjoy the scenery and the peace.

Hello from me – Danny

Standard

Hello wonderful bears and non bear people,

I need to check in, in between my mum’s posts.

I have been traveling again to Germany – just a quick visit.

Having a great time eating good food,

Relaxing

but also helping with chores.

I used all my muscles to recycle old clothes.

I couldn’t reach so I had to be lifted up.

My mum was very grateful for my help.

At the Airport in wonderful sunny weather

I was treated to my own “Strandkorb” – Beach basket

to relax on the visitor’s terrace watching planes.

That was just so cool.

Big hugs from Danny for all my friends.

Today is …. #20

…a day to be a tourist!

Imagine you have never visited your hometown,

What would you do if you were visiting for the first time.

What would you visit?

What would you eat?

What would you want to see?

You can be a tourist where you live

Explore.

Notice.

Find a market, find a museum, find an art Gallery or slip into a church.

Notice the smells, the scents, feel the atmosphere.

Being a tourist wakes your curiosity and make you notice more around you!

Have an interesting day!

Kew Gardens 1st smile

Standard

In my post from 4th August I shared with you that I had become friends with Kew Gardens.

Last weekend

the sun was shining,

birds were singing,

and I felt free.

I made a quick decision

to visit Kew Gardens.

What a good choice!

I was greeted with this view.

Behind the Palm house was the rose garden.

For today I like you to go with me to smell the roses.

Forget the business and enjoy the smells and colours!

There is so much more……

Soon more from Kew Gardens

Punting

Standard

A day out works wonders – like a mini holiday.

You come back refreshed and relaxed.

I tried it for you to give you experienced advice.

We went for one day and night to Cambridge, the famous University town.

Cambridge is a city on the River Cam in eastern England, home to the prestigious University of Cambridge, dating to 1209. University colleges include King’s, famed for its choir and towering Gothic chapel, as well as Trinity, founded by Henry VIII, and St John’s, with its 16th-century Great Gate. University museums have exhibits on archaeology and anthropology, polar exploration, the history of science and zoology.

Walking along the river Cam are many bridges- hence the name Cambridge.

Bridge

We came along punters and we signed up for some punting.

What an amazing experience, what fun!

The Sky was blue,

the weather was hot,

a real mini holiday!

My advice:

Go for a mini holiday,

do something different at the spur of the moment,

enjoy every moment

and have fun.

You feel refreshed, relaxed,

ready for the new week!

A short holiday in Spain

Standard

You all know how I love my palm trees

so we had a short holiday in Spain near Barcelona.

We stayed in Calella in Catalonia.

Calella

A wonderful beach welcomed us and

just listening to the sound of the waves was so relaxing and calming.

Calella had wonderful plants,

a lovely church,

a light house

small streets with delightful shops

and amazing houses with cacti growing up… over 2 floors

We enjoyed the warmth and the beautiful beach.

and had a relaxing time.

A truly wonderful short holiday!
