Miracles – Two Steps from Hell

Standard

My favourite group ‘Two Steps from Hell’

2sfh2

has released its fifth public album with the appropriate title

Miracles

It is a miracle what beautiful music they produce!

Miracles is the counterpart to our epic releases, focusing primarily on our emotional, beautiful and tender songs.”

 – 2 Steps from Hell quote

2sfh

A beautiful, soft and gentle mix of known and new tracks;  beautifully crafted melodies,  romantic with amazing voices like Merethe Soltvedt .   It is a more dreamy, emotional  album a step away from the blasting epic trailer music with amazing orchestral arrangements.  Some invite for romantic evenings, some are ideal for meditating. Definitely another musical gem from Thomas Bergersen – Two steps from Hell.

Thank you Thomas you never disappoint your fans!

You have excelled again in music making!

Eyes closing, I love you forever, Science and Lost in Las Vegas are from the album ‘Illumina’.  Lux Aeterna, Sungazer, Eria, Colour the Sky,Forever in my dreams and Northern Pastures are from ‘Dreams and Imagination’ which were not released to the public. There are also tracks from other albums which you can see below.  All are composed by Thomas Bergersen.

It also features “Heart” which was composed for the victims of the Earthquake in Japan 2011, all proceeds went to the Red Cross.

The great track ‘Lost in Las Vegas’ was written some years ago. Thomas was a DJ before he got into orchestral music. Back then he produced a lot of trance music.

My favourite track is Compass, no Forever in my Dreams, no Sun Gazer, no Eria, no….. well I can’t decide…. They are all amazing.

Here is the listing of Miracles:

1. Miracles – later released in Amaria

2. Eria – from Dreams & Imaginations

You all know how much I love them, so here another wonderful track called

“Undying Love”

Wishing you all a wonderful love filled day!

“Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.”

Finally today I could buy the new album SKYWORLD from Two Steps from Hell.

I have so far listened to it on you tube and there is one more song I totally love and is one of my favourites.

It is a beautiful romantic song called “Sun & Moon”. The female vocalist is Carina Istre and the male vocalist is no other than my favourite composer himself Thomas Bergersen. The words are a made up language, as in some of his other songs.

So close your eyes and let the music flow through you.

A feast for your ears.

My Music

Standard

A little taster of my music – trailer music.

It is from my favourite composer Thomas Bergersen, from Two Steps from Hell.

This is called “Undying Love” and is from the album “Legend”  from 2008 which was not for public release but for trailermusic houses. You can still find it on youtube.

It is a very romantic track  like a love poem, beautiful for your ears and soul.

Enjoy it!

Two Steps from Hell – Two steps from Heaven Review

Standard

The new album is here

Two Steps from Heaven.2steps from heaven

The new orchestral album with music written by Thomas Bergersen, performed by a 120 piece orchestra and choir, conducted by Petr Pololanik, out now but unfortunately not for the public, it’s for motion picture advertising clients only. Thomas Bergersen’s pet-project was released under Two Steps from Hell and is mostly a Family Adventure & comedy style album with a few epic drama style tracks. It contains 19 main tracks including “Heart” & “Benedictus” which Thomas Bergersen posted to the public last year.

Trailer Music Fans seem to be divided in opinions about this album as not all tracks are as “epic” as some fans wanted it to be. This album though is a wonderful mix of epic tracks, real motion picture tracks, emotional tracks and big orchestral beauties.

Now it is possible to listen to the tracks on Extrememusic.com

Tracklist:

  1. Reach for the skies
  2. Motherland
  3. Strength of an Empire
  4. Benedictus
  5. Men of honour
  6. Welcome to Fantasia
  7. Liberty Rising
  8. Beyond the Horizon
  9. Cassandra
  10. Spirit of Maravia
  11. Forever More
  12. Shes a superhero
  13. Heart
  14. Into the moonlight
  15. Neptunes secret
  16. Hope
  17. Men of honour part II
  18. An awfully big adventure
  19. Gloria

Some tracks are purely written for action film trailers, it seems,  like ‘Reach for the Skies’, ’ Motherland’,  ‘Welcome to Fantasia’, ‘Beyond the Horizon’, ‘She’s a Superhero’, ‘Spirit of Moravia’  and ‘An awfully big Adventure’ as you can just imagine lots of film action with this music. ‘Neptune’s Secret’ would fit perfectly to a comedy. (It does remind me of Professor Pumplestickle from the album ‘The devil wears Nada’.) Other tracks do touch the heart and are quieter, melodic, harmonious, emotional  like ‘Men of Honour’, ‘Men of Honour part II’, ‘Forever More’. Then we have the pure epic track like “Strength of and Empire” with great build ups and fantastic full choir.

‘Heart’ was originally written by Thomas Bergersen to help Japan’s victims of the big earthquake, it is a beautiful, emotional piece. So are ‘Benedictus’,’ Into the Moonlight’ and ‘Gloria’, soft music, heavenly voices and lovely strings.

‘Cassandra’ seems to be in a league of its own for me, it is my favourite, it is epic, yet calm, beautiful, fantastic build up to the piece with the vocals .

Summary:

A melodic album with very different tracks, all have their own beautiful melody, with great orchestration, good drums, strings, pianos, beautiful voices and choirs. Again you can hear that they were composed by the very talented Thomas Bergersen. A feast for your ears! I love this album!

The new public releases “Halloween” ( it is a public release featuring music from various albums such as “Ashes”, “Shadows and Nightmares” and others. “Halloween” will also feature fantastic new spooky music and promises to be the ultimate Halloween party soundtrack.) It will be out on 25th September followed by Skyworld (Two Steps from Hell “Skyworld “ will be our third major public release featuring groundbreaking epic music with a modern twist. “Skyworld”  will be comprised over mostly new never before heard material. This album forges new ground and we believe it will be appreciated by two steps fans in October.)

……can’t wait!

Jo Blankenburg – Elysium

Standard

Elysium – Jo Blankenburg

Always looking for more composers for Trailer Music I stumbled upon

Jo Blankenburg.

“Music for the senses”

Jo Blankenburg was born in 1972 in Germany now based in Los Angeles. He writes music for film and motion picture advertising. Some of his most popular tracks have been used in the advertising campaigns of the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, X-men, How to train your dragon and many others.

His first solo album Vendetta for Position Music was released in 2011, the songs of which have been used for the advertising campaigns of many major movies and television shows.

His second album Elysium has just been released by Position Music. It is one of those albums you like every single track. It is beautiful, emotional, fantastically composed music. It is available now on Amazon and iTunes.

It was recorded in the Czech Republic during 3 days. It contains choir lyrics in Latin and Sanskit.  It features the Capellen Orchestra and Choir conducted by Petr Pololanik. (Same as Thomas Bergersen’s Illusion Album)

Elysium is out of this world. It is a feast for your ears and mind. Every single track has its own beauty, harmony, and style. The tracks are relaxing, slow, soft, epic, dramatic, melodic, action packed and you can let your imagination go. There is a sense of adventure, dramatic action and wonder, listening to the piano, strings, drums and choir in perfect harmony. The choir is not overpowering and you can still hum and sing with every track.

Jo Blankenburg is an extremely gifted and one of the best composers out there, for listeners who appreciate real beauty of music. I certainly became a big fan of his. He is close to his fans and keeps updating his facebook and has a great website.

E.S Posthumus Update

As a huge fan of E.S. Posthumus here an update.

The “guru” on their facebook page told us that the E.S.Posthumus website has been updated.
There is a discography and a “sports” tab.

In addition to releasing 3 albums, ES Posthumus wrote numerous compositions for sports programs including the NFL on CBS, Super Bowl XLIV, MLB Tonight, The Masters, The PGA Championship and The US Open. 6 tracks are there, you can listen to straight away, and you can purchase/download them also through the site directly.

They are fantastic, I can’t stop listening to it.
Here a taster of “Burlingame”

and the “Thrill of Victory”

Enjoy the tracks and have a look at their website!

E.S. Posthumus

E.S. Posthumus

You might not have heard the name E.S. Posthumus before, but you have certainly heard the music on many movie trailers or TV shows including the Themesong for “Cold Case”.  It was formed by brothers Helmut and Franz Vonlichten in 2000.  I wanted to share this amazing music with you as it has enchanted me completely.

E.S. Posthumus stands for Experimental Sounds, Posthumus stands for “all things past”.

Their music is classical with drum beats and electronic sounds, inspired by the Pythagorean Philosophy which states that “music is the harmonization of opposites; the conciliation of warring elements”. (Wikipedia)

Both brothers grew up in a musical home with their mother being a classically trained pianist, so they were exposed to all different music from an early age. Their music blends classical, symphonies, electronic, world music and choirs together. Helmut said in an interview : “We just gravitated toward everything we loved and found a way to make it all mesh together.”

Helmut studied Archeology and it shows in the Latin based Lyrics and the back story of the album Cartographer. There is no label with their music – “we are really grateful  that no label was willing to take any sort of a chance on us. We are in complete control of our careers, and we own all of our master recordings and publishing.  That is very liberating.”

There are 3 albums of E.S. Posthumus. I cannot decide which one is my favourite, as all 3 have epic, relaxing and emotionally charged compositions. They can be downloaded via Amazon.com and cdbaby.com.

Unfortunately Franz Vonlichten died unexpectedly in May 2010.

Helmut wrote this to his fans in July 2010

Dear Friends:
This has been an amazing year for ES Posthumus. Not only did we release our best selling album “Makara”, but we opened the Super Bowl with Jay Z. However, with the sweetness of life often there follows the bitterness of mortality….. my brother, Franz, passed away in May. It was entirely unexpected.

The vast majority of music that we created as ESP is in your hands… there may be 1 or 2 additional songs that become available before the year end; unfortunately, I cannot promise anything.

As for me, I will begin to rebuild what was washed away, albeit in a form other than ES Posthumus.  My brother and I created ESP together and we’ll “exit stage left” together as well.

Franz was an extraordinary talent…. among other things, I will miss his creative ear and incomparable musical palette. Most of all, however, I will miss his wit and humor…. a consummate storyteller who found a punch line in even the most mundane scenarios.

Finally, thanks to every one of you… as you know, our success was truly “grassroots” … it was driven by a sense of community and word of mouth…. you made it happen for us… we are eternally grateful..

Be well,

Helmut

In November 2011, Helmut has formed a new band called “Les Friction” with Nihl Finch and Paint. His first new track is called ”Torture”
