Jigsaw Puzzle Review – Snowdrop Cottage

Standard

I have been given a 1000 piece Jigsaw puzzle to do and to review,

as you know I love doing puzzles.

It arrived on Friday.

I was already excited.

It is called Snowdrop Cottage and it is an original premium Ravensburger Puzzle,

Great German Quality.

Picture

It is wonderful to unpack a great quality puzzle

knowing how much I will enjoy doing it.

The joy begins on opening the box… the anticipation….

and I find the pieces, a leaflet, the 2018 catalog and a picture of the puzzle.

The picture – Snowdrop Cottage, perfect for the Winter season is  done by artist Howard Robinson.

It is the 11th in a series of English Cottages.

I love the picture.

When I study it more I find the warm cottage, lots of beautiful plants, many birds, different flowers, the well –

all in all a beautiful picture.

I already make my plan in my head how to tackle the puzzle.

Step 1 find all edge pieces

Step 2 sort colours  for house and roof

Step 3 go for it and enjoy.

The Puzzle was a delight to do. The most satisfying moment is when you put the last piece in. You feel you have achieved something and had fun doing it.

I started on Friday evening, continued on Saturday and finished it off on Sunday afternoon.  This 1000 piece puzzle would be a great starter puzzle for someone who has only done 500 pieces, but wants to go bigger.  The motive which is the very ‘busy’ and colorful picture of Snowdrop Cottage makes it easy to sort and follow where the pieces go. The soft click technology of the well known Ravensburger Company makes it so satisfying to put piece after piece in and you feel straight away if it fits or not. The different shapes also help solving the puzzle.

The making of the puzzle was fun and relaxing for me.

Puzzles are relaxing and almost like a meditation,

when you can study the picture and enjoy every bit in detail,

no rushing involved,

but take your time and do it calmly.

You can do it together with someone else and have a good and peaceful time.

If you enjoy doing puzzles I certainly recommend this puzzle from Ravensburger

and

it makes a great present too.

There are plenty more puzzles to choose from if you want a bigger challenge or just more fun.

done – hurray

Looking through the catalog I found my next one already – ‘The afternoon visitor’

How to enjoy a puzzle every step of the way!

I have been sent a 1000 piece puzzle by Debra to enjoy and to review.

As I love puzzling, I was very happy.

It is a brilliant way to relax,

to practice patience and

look at pictures in real detail.

This time it was ” The Brighton Belle” by Ravensburger.

A Premium Puzzle with Soft Click Technology.

On opening the 1000 pieces were neatly packed in a bag. It included a leaflet showing the artists biography and additional picture for reference. As I can see from the included small catalogue that it is a new addition to the collection 2016.

The Drawing by Trevor Mitchell shows the 1st class service the Brighton Belle used to bring for 40 years. An excellent choice of the picture as it has many different colours and lines to be identified on each puzzle piece.

There is more information about “that the magic of fine rail dining in the 1930s, complete with attentive white jacketed Pullman stewards and those sumptuous surroundings” It will be recreated and the Brighton Belle will be in service again towards the end of 2016. If you like to read more please go to the Brighton Belle website. Rather interesting!

The 1000 pieces are great card quality which you can be sorted easily without the danger of breaking them or the fear of the actual picture coming off.

Through the many different objects and people on the picture one can sort really well into colours and also shapes depending how you as puzzler prefer it. I prefer sorting in shapes first then colours.

The great thing with a Ravensburger, once you find a piece and it fits – it really fits, it really ‘clicks ‘in.  It does have the soft click technology- not just a word- you can really feel it. You do not have to doubt if it is the right place as each piece is individually shaped. This is a big bonus and gives us puzzlers extra help especially for not such established puzzlers. The shapes are distinctive and sometimes you don’t even need to look at the picture so much. While doing piece by piece you feel and see the excellent quality.

See my progress….

My favourite moment is when I put the last piece in, I feel a sense of achievement and I can see the picture in full big glory.

I very much enjoyed doing this puzzle, it didn’t take long and even my children stopped by to put the odd piece in the right place. I can recommend this puzzle to all puzzlers out there and it would be a good start for someone who has never done 1000 pieces.

Enjoy!

Puzzle review

Standard

I do love doing a good puzzle

and to my joy I was invited to do a puzzle review

by Debra from TSS blog.

A puzzle is very relaxing and I really enjoy it.

the secretary (7)

Here it is:

“The Secretary” is a 500 piece premium puzzle. As you open the box you find the 500 pieces securely in a bag also an additional A4 picture of the puzzle picture, so you don’t need use the box with you to complete it. Also included is the artist’s biography and information about the Ravensburger Company.

The picture is a drawing by Trevor Mitchell of a secretary busily at work in a 1960s office. Trevor Mitchell who after attending Art College in Bradford worked for an advertising agency in London in 1979. He then returned to his native Yorkshire where he went freelance. He illustrated greeting cards and found a market for his paintings among publishers of art prints and jigsaw puzzles.

The Secretary drawing is a very detailed picture and the colours are vibrant. As an avid puzzler I would recommend this puzzle for beginners, young people or someone with little patience.  Starting with the frame and sorting the remaining pieces into colours this puzzle is fairly easy. The picture has clear lines to follow (the window frame, the doorframe) and many different objects like the coffee tray, the filing cabinet and the 5 plants which can be assembled separately and then put into the big picture.  It is like looking at a puzzle piece and you know instantly where it goes in the big picture.

Now that a bit of holiday comes I will chill out with another one.
