Ute – Land of the Sun

Standard

The name Ute was given to me by my mum, she had a doll called Ute and loved this name.

The meaning: Ute has its origins in the Germanic language and it is used largely in German. It is derived from the word ‘uod’ which means “wealth, fortune”. The male version of this name is Otto, which is one of my grandad’s name. Also it comes up as  a Japanese name, japanese origin meaning “song”

So I am not really sure which one to choose….. but…

☼☼☼

Through Google, RoSy and another blog from Sharla I found more about  Ute which I found rather interesting:

Utah was Mexican territory when the first pionees arrived in 1847. It became the 45th state admitted to the union on January 4, 1896. The name Utah is derived from the name of the Ute Tribe. The University of Utah has adopted the Ute as its mascot. The word Ute means “Land of the sun” in their language. Ute possibly derived from the western Apache word “Yudah” meaning “high up”. This had led to the misconception that Ute means people high up or mountain people.

I do love the meaning “Land of the sun” and I shall stick to that one now. My mum told me that I was always a sunshine in her life and always a cheerful and happy child. There we have it… Proof!

So I shall keep the sunshine going,

keep dancing,

keep smiling,

and sending the sunshine from my heart out to everyone else!

Have a beautiful, bright day from the Land of the Sun!

Every time we have an exam I think it can’t get better and every time it does get better.

I love the steps and I love the music.

Our teacher is the best.

He is so much fun, is patient, is funny and believes in us!

My Amazing Day Out

Standard

As you all know it started like this:

A chat with my friend Ralph about my dream , to dance with James Jordan, a professional dancer in the TV Show “Strictly come dancing“…. the next email said “surprise” and I had the lesson with James….. unbelievable…..I could not believe it. Well the date was booked and it finally happened last Sunday.

I was allowed to take friends with me and I chose my dance teacher Kevin and my dance friend Julie. We set off to Maidstone to the hotel. We were well in time and waited in the bar to be collected by James. We all recognised him straight away and were a little bit nervous.

James took us to a big hall where there was a dance floor in the middle. After a small introduction and checking what I like to dance and how much I can do already, he started to show me the steps with handmovements. It looks so great when he does it and it is not so easy when I do it myself. As James says: practice and it needs to go into muscle memory. I wished my muscles had more memory. 🙂

dJames and me dancing

He showed me, he corrected me, (of course I did it slightly wrong) he did it with me, he looked at me on my own, we did some steps in hold….. and he taught me. He is a great teacher and no doubt all celebrities have lots of fun practising with him. It is rather hard to do the steps and learn the hands at the same time, I noticed but James was patient. The pictures are a bit blurred as we were moving all the time.

I am sure Craig (one of the judges in the TV show Strictly come dancing) would have given us a 7 but Len surely a 10!

James is an easy going teacher and great fun to dance with. He is cheerful, chatty and it made the whole experience great fun and we had a laugh. We chatted all together about his dancing and the partners he had over the years and it was really interesting. At the end we all asked him to sign and took pictures with him.

His wife Ola was next to us and of course we also asked her to pose with us and sign the book and had a small chat.

When my hour was finished I felt really great and I enjoyed every minute of it.

My dream Dancing with James Jordan has been fulfilled and I felt fabulous.

Dreams DO come true …

Standard

As you know from my blog I do have a passion for dancing and music. Dancing makes me happy , relaxed and I can just let go of everything when dancing.

dance

I love the fluidity of the steps, the expression, the softness, the moving with the music. I have learnt ball room dances as a teenager and my passion since grew.  I started to learn tap dance 6 years ago and I love it so much I never miss a lesson. I can proudly say I have passed 4 exams and participated in 2 shows. My heroes are Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. My favourite musical is “Singing in the Rain

At the moment we are practising for another show next year, where we will do a Tango as Tap and Freestyle to the James Bond Music and Lady Gaga music. It is all very exciting.

*******

In the UK we have a programme called “Strictly come dancing” every year starting in September until Christmas where professional dancers teach celebrities (actors, sports persons etc) a new dance every week and on Saturday it is aired live on TV. I am a follower of the programme as you can imagine. I love watching the dancers and wished I could have a dance with one of the professionals.

The other week a couple did a Charleston together which was so fantastic. I adore the Charleston and can do the basic steps and a turn but seeing the couple made me want to learn more.

charleston

So I told my fellow blogger and good friend Ralph in one of our conversational emails that I would love to learn the Charelston with James Jordan, one of the profesional dancers on the show. This is my dream and I will save up for it and it would be on my bucket list, rather earlier than later. This is James….

james

The next day I see an email called SURPRISE,  an early Christmas Present from Ralph:

It said I have a private dance lesson with James Jordan all paid for and I just have to arrange the date.

I cannot believe it. I still have to read it and read it again and again , I printed it out and it still has not sunk in.

Ralph made my dream come true.

How extraordinary, how generous, how kind, how unbelievably selfless to do this. A wonderful act which made me so happy .  He knows that I am struggling with money and I would not have saved this money but rather spend it on the children than me. I know Ralph has a very big heart and  likes giving and helping all different people in any way he can. So this is his treat, my dream and I love recveiving it with a grateful heart.

I will arrange a date with James Jordan for January and will smile and be happy every day in anticipation.

What a wonderful way from a immensely kind person to give this dream to me as a gift!

thank you

I cannot thank him enough, and I will thoroughly enjoy the build up time to it and the actual lesson !

A dream come true and memories made for life!
