My favourite Composer – Thomas Bergersen

Standard

Thomas Bergersen is part of my favourite Group Two Steps from Hell. He composes lots of other amazing music apart from the epics for Two Steps from Hell.

In March 2020, Thomas Bergerson announced the seven part album series Humanity. Humanity is intended to be a seven part album series exploring all aspects of human emotion.

On 1 July 2020, Humanity Chapter I was released. The first chapter’s focus is on freedom, strength and unity, bringing many musical cultures together in a colorful and expressive way.

On 11 November 2020, Humanity Chapter II was added. Chapter II is about our families, children, dreams and desires, our legacy, our hardship, heroism, fate and purpose.

On 6 May 2021 Humanity – Chapter III was released. With Chapter III, Thomas wanted to take a soft approach to exploring the deepest, purest and perhaps the most fulfilling feelings we can experience as humans on this planet.

Love

He describes in this emotional chapter emotions of love during life as you can see from the titles: Sparks, Red, First Kiss, Butterflies, You are my home, Magic, Born to dream, Little star, Growing old together, Until the lights go out, It was a life worth living, Love suite, You, Sunshower.

The album, I dare say my favourite Humanity album, is amazing, there are no words to describe it really.

Every title is really bringing the emotions out with the orchestra.

My all time favourite from this album is Until the lights go out with piano and guitar.

This track is so peaceful, so calming; I want to hear it when I am at the end of my life, ready to go to the maker and have it played at my funeral.

I am practising it on the guitar, it is so beautiful.

In the meanwhile Chapter IV is out too; If you like it – look out for it.

Thomas has a facebook page here where you can stream his music.

Music – my first attempts on the Double Bass

Standard

My first attempts with the Double Bass

First a short riff

then with a backing track I found on you tube. ( playing the first 12 bars only as it is repeating itself)

This is an amazing instrument.

The strings are thick and hard and the fingers need to press hard and at the right height to get the right tone out.

I am having such fun to try it and am very happy when I can play/improvise with a Blues Backing track.

I will always look at Double Bass players with great admiration.

Learn something new.
Try something different.
Convince yourself that you have no limits.

Remembering Christmas

Standard

My Christmas Memories

When I was a child in Germany

we celebrated Christmas in the evening 24th December.

Dad would get a real tree in the morning and we were allowed to help

decorating it with our handmade decorations

like paperchains, straw stars and lanterns etc.

We made candle holders out of walnut shells.

Then we were sent out the room for a while.

We had to listen for a little bell.

Once we heard the bell we went into the room with anticipation.

The tree was lit (with real candles) presents under or next to the tree.

We did not open presents then.

Mum sat at the piano and played Christmas carols, we sang to it.

Then us children played Christmas carols on the recorder with my mum.

It was a wonderful happy, warm and peaceful feeling.

Then a record was put on with the Christmas story and a choir singing carols,

only then we started to open presents.

Everyone was happy, Dad watching the tree carefully with the candles.

We loved to blow them all out.

After all this Mum served a lovely small dinner with filled Vol-au vents,

and home baked Christmas cookies.

We spent a happy family evening together.

Always a magical Christmas for us, a special time,

and I remember it fondly filled with so much love.

Another Performance

Standard

It was time again for a new dance performance

Tap and Freestyle.

For Tap we did a Tango – routine to

‘Perhaps, perhaps,  perhaps’

followed by another routine to ‘my future husband’ – Megan Trainer.

I loved every bit.

This was the outfit!

For Freestyle we danced to ‘Shut up and dance’

we wore a lovely red skirt with petticoat, silver belt, white T-shirt and red scarf.

I did love the petticoat, it makes dancing even more fun!

We also did a great routine to Justin Timberlake – I got this feeling:

We had a fantastic time, so did the audience.

Broadway next…… ?????  🙂

Mindful Day – Music

Standard

Today have a specially mindful day

How about

you listen to a piece of music

without doing something else.

Close your eyes and enjoy the instruments playing,

listen to the music in detail,

hear the different instruments,

enjoy the soothing sound,

give thanks to your ears picking up the sound.

and most of all

Relax

How about this one:

Have a guess in what….

I had the right skirt too….

Yes,

in 42nd Street!

What a fantastic show!

I saw it 1988 the first time with Catherine Zeta Jones and loved it…

Now 2017 again, this time with Sheena Easton, amazing again.

Just listen to those taps…  ♥♥♥♥♥

Weekly Smile #39

Standard

smile

In choir yesterday we started a new song:

Guess what….

One of my favourite musicals

Singing in the Rain

singing-in-hte-rain

It is not that easy as we sing harmonies

but it is great fun.

The lyrics say:

‘Let the stormy clouds chase everyone from the place

Come on with the rain, I’ve a smile on my face…..’

and there it was:

my smile got bigger
