Kew Gardens 23rd Smile – Spring in Kew

Standard

Now Spring shows its’ signs

Kew is nearly in full bloom.

There is a sea of yellow greeting you.

Fun Fact:

The word “narcissus” is derived from the Greek word narke, meaning numbness (also the root of the word narcotic); the flower may have been named thus because of the intoxicating fragrance of some species.

There are so many varieties of Daffodills and Narcissi varieties and scents.

We were transported to the fairy-tale setting of Kew’s Magnolias, they grow on bare stems.

Trees full of Magnolias, different colours, sizes and varieties.

We found this little delicate beauty in the grass –  Snake’s head fritillaries

Then we followed on to the Cherry walk

Not all were open, yet I caught some perfect with the blue sky.

It felt wonderful to be under the Cherry blossom trees,

sun shining, blue sky.

Spring makes you feel alive.

Where flowers bloom
so does hope.

Picture of the Week #11

Standard

Something completely different for this week.

We found behind a gasfire a fireplace

which looks like the Tunnel of the London Underground

right there in our new front room.

Food for thought

Courage isn't
having the strength to go on -
it's the going on
when you don't have the strength.

Picture of the Week #10

Standard

Today a picture of my new garden.

Blooming already with beautiful Camellias.

This one is specially beautiful with the shape of its’ petals.

Food for thought

Say only what you mean.
Avoid using the word to speak against yourself
or to gossip.
Use the power of your word
in the direction of truth and love.

Picture of the Week #9

Standard

As the weather is appauling and I did not venture out,

my picture of the week

is the pancake for “Pancake Day” as it is known in the UK

also Shrove Tuesday;

Fresh from the pan – it was delicious

Food for thought

All of us could take a lesson
from the weather;
it pays no attention
to criticism.
