Craft trials

Time for something new:

I tried the other day to paint a stone.

It was a very porous stone.

This is my result.

It was rather hard, I’m not so good in drawing so this will be my only one.

It looks nice in the garden, I varnished it to weatherproof it.

I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought,

so I’ll stick to the crafts I do better and enjoy more.

Like knitting  a little fragrance pouch for example.

It is good to try different crafts out.

One way to find out what you truly enjoy.

Don’t be so set on your ways that you can’t grow.”

  1. I love your stone – it is so happy and friendly, just like your lovely blog. And that little pouch is adorable. Coelho’s quote is spot on – is it from The Alchemist?

  2. That’s a very pretty stone and will be lovely in your garden. It is always good to try new things – and if they don’t work out as we wish, at least it is an informed decision to do something else. Your little lavender bag is gorgeous. 🙂

  3. I used to have a martial arts school. One of my wonderful little students wanted to play basketball and her parents made her be the one to tell me. They thought it would be good for her. She was crying when she told me. I told her that I thought if she wanted to try basketball she absolutely should! What if she is the next best basketball player but she never played because someone (even herself) didn’t let her try something new. She was so grateful. 🙂

    • Great advice. My parents always let us try lots of things and we found out we enjoyed some and not others. We were very fortunate to have great parents with this attitude. Never forget the time we tried out Water skiing, great fun. 🙂

      • I have to admit that I was very pleased with ‘myself’ for having the wisdom to tell her this. She was so upset because she did like ‘me’ and our class but she really wanted to try something. Your parents sound wonderful Ute. How life would be better if we encouraged one another to try new things. Oh the wonderful discoveries we might encounter!

  4. I think the stone looks very nice, Ute, and you finished it, so that makes it great. we agree that you have to try everything, so you know what you like or not 😀 😺Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend to you and Thomas too🐾😽💞

Love to hear from you......
