There were beautiful Quinces in the shop
perfect for wonderful tasting jam.
They were extremely hard to cut – all worth it in the end.
The jam came out so good, tasting and smelling so yummy.
This is my favourite jam followed by Apricot jam.
Have you ever made it or tasted it?
Quince Jelly is amazing too.
How delicious. I love quinces, especially their aroma. I haven’t made quince jam but I have made quince jelly.
I know you like their aroma, you know what is exquisite 🙂 My sister makes jelly, and my mum always did, that is my real favourite. I don’t have the equipment and sieving through a towel is hard work, so it is jam.
quince jelly is very popular in France, too… but I also have them steamed and serve them with maple sirup; oh, in Romania, people use them “caramelized” as a side for any white meat – yummy! 🙂
Oh yes, they are delicious in so many ways.
Oh nice, yes the French know well what is good! 🙂 Thank you
Your quince jam almost looks like creamed honey.
Almost! Someone else said that….. 🙂
I don’t think I have ever tasted quince jam but yours looks gorgeous! I think my favourite jam is fig and I am reminded that I have not had it for ages – must get some.. 🙂
oh , fig jam , something new I haven’t had either… need to look out for it. One day you must taste Quince Jam or jelly , well worth it!
How delightful it would be to commit oneself to the tasting all of all flavours of jam over time – I like the sound of such a quest!
Great Quest…. 🙂
i’ve never tasted a quince, but it looks wonderful
one day you need to try it… you’ll love it!
I will)
We have absolutely had quince jam at our house. Steffi and I collected the smaller “decorative” variety and made a very tart, lemony jam from them. When we’re looking for a lemony, tart taste in our food, we use the quince jam instead – even with the sugar we put in they’re still quite tart.
They are a dickens to work with, aren’t they?
Maybe I’ll first boil mine a bit next time – soften them up a bit.
Looks like you’ve got enough to get you through 2019 there! Enjoy!
Haha, yes it was 2 kilos. I am giving some away as presents as it is quite rare here! They are hard to work with but the taste in the end is worth it! Hope you and Steffi are enjoying the Advent time! ♥
I’ve never heard of it let alone tried it. Homemade, it’s probably so much better even. Wish they would invent tasting/smelling through computers.
Not that many people know it, Here in London I have seen so far only one Quince tree. Haha, smelling through computers…. but only nice smells please…. 🙂
Of course. 🙂
I love jam, but I have never heard of Quince jam. If you say that it is tasty, then it must be. 🙂 ❤
Oh yes it certainly is! I did see Quince trees in Spain.
I think that these (bottom right) are quince. They are hard as cannon balls 🙂
Could be….They are very hard yes, guess that is why people don’t want to do anything with them. I got more muscles just cutting them….. 🙂
sind eben gesund, beste Grüße und möglichst beste Gesundheit wünsche ich dir heute hier, Klaus
Gesundheit ist das Wichtigste. Gute Wuensche Klaus!
Oh, we’ve never tasted quinces, Ute, but our neighbor has them in the garden. We’re going to ask him for one so that we know how they taste. Thanks for the tip 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Day to you and Thomas🐾😽💞
Yes, do smell them and you need to boil them, they are very hard. Enjoy!
hoffe, du bist gut in die Woche gestartet?
♥
I don’t even know what a quince is, but I have a feeling that is tart like lemons or passion-fruit.
They look like apples inside, with pips. The taste is well different to Lemon or passion fruit, more exquisite. One day you will have to try it!
