There is a religious catholic holiday in Germany called Fronleichnam
In English it is called Corpus Christi.
I was fortunate to witness it on Thursday, while I visited my mum.
Custom is that people make flower carpets where the procession walks along.
They are made out of leaves, flowers and petals of different colours.
I saw the fresh carpets in the morning, and they were so beautiful.
Please peruse through the slideshow:
We saw the procession coming from the church.
The priest read from the bible and then they
continued to the town center.
Wow! So beautiful~
Wunderschön und so kreative gestaltet. So etwas gibt es im protestantischen Norden nicht. LG Trina
Danke Trina, ja es ist nur im Sueden glaube ich !
Thank you it is indeed!
das hast du toll gestaltet, liebe Ute, Wochenende und bei uns immer noch kein Regen zum Leidwesen aller Pflanzen und Menschen und Tieren, Klaus
Danke Klaus!
How beautiful, Ute. And such a lovely day for it, too.
It was indeed, sunny and warm, a joy ! My mum and me loved it!
🙂
Ute, thanks for those nice pictures and subsequently the reminder for Fronleichnam. To be honest, I had forgotten about those beautiful flowery ‘work-of-art-. Here in Kerala, we celebrate something called “Onam” (which is a sort of Harvest-festival and shopping frenzy), but on this occasion we too have beautiful flower designs in every public building, shops, streets, schools – you name it.
It is a nice tradition with flowers! Wonderful!
Very beautiful and exciting!
Thank you it was!
I went there with you in my thoughts!🤗
🙂
WOW! How beautiful done, Ute 🙂 We love the first one with the dove inside of it very much ❤ Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead 🙂 ❤
You are right , that was the most beautiful one! Shame they only lasted one day!
How beautiful! In Brazil this holiday is huge. Lately some towns have be lining the sides of the carpet with clothing and food that later is donated to the poor. Blessings! 🙂
In South Germany it is too, but here in England not at all, we usually work even.
What a beautiful tradition. I love the flowers.
I think so too, it was great to see it!
Love the slideshow!! Very beautiful! Not something we do in Canada. Even Pentecost is not a holiday here and many people don’t even know what it is. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Gives a whole new meaning to Tiptoe Through the Tulips! 🙂

Haha that is true, tiptoe through the tulips… I like that. Yes Pentecost is also celebrated in Germany but not in Britain. How different it is. It was great to see it this year, my mum sees it every year as they do it in front of the complex she lives.
Awesome! This is a very beautiful tradition. Than You sharing it with us.
My pleasure, different countries have different traditions as you can see. Your finish traditions are fun lovely too.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this holiday. Thank you for this enlightening post.
Thanks, it was the first time I actually was part of it too. Thanks Russ
