Today is Father’s Day and it is the first time I do not send a card, but send my love to heaven.
Thinking about my father makes me smile, happy and sad at the same time.
I do miss him a lot.
I have lots of wonderful memories and specially today I am reminded of some.
Do you remember me playing the piano, right next to you with lots of mistakes and you never said anything. You were the most patient man in the universe.
Our Saturday morning routine of buying the paper and stopping at the best coffee shop in town for tea with lemon. I loved those treats and we had such wonderful conversations, dad to daughter, daughter to dad.
Remember when you gave me a puff of your cigarette in the car while waiting for my mum to come out of the shop. I felt so sick, I never touched cigarettes in my life again. What a clever parenting trick that was. I was glad that you stopped it soon after that too.
When I was a toddler, we posed for a photo in Italy, you holding me at the rim of a beautiful well. I was so scared that I would fall into the well, but you hold me tight and I felt safe.
You always had to look at me twirling round in front of you after I bought new clothes. You always said it looks lovely. You were the first man I wanted to marry….
Remember those evenings when I asked you to help with my physics homework. You always explained it to me 3 times if necessary, and by the morning I had forgotten it again. Sorry.
Thank you for always taking us daughters to wonderful places in the holidays, we had much to do and see. I always enjoyed our family holidays.
