I read a lot of positive blogs, facebook sites and articles.
Then I came across great ideas which I wanted to share with you.
1st January is a good day to start…..
Idea 1.
Idea 2.
Write a Gratitude Journal
This picture is the one I will use, all ready for January 2013.
I will write down every day , at the end of the day, what good things the day gave me and what I was grateful for on this day.
A wonderful way to celebrate each day, think of the gifts and positive things of each day and I can show my gratitude and be thankful .
And remember:
“When you expect nothing,
you can receive everything
as a marvelous gift.”
Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Two great ideas. Make sure you have a BIG jar 🙂
The bigger the better… should be fun and interesting to read it all at the end of the year!
This is a GREAT idea, Ute! I like the idea of a jar… But why not do both? ^_^
Sent while mobile
Thank you Nina, yes both are good ideas and fun.
What wonderful ideas
I thought so too, so I might use a tin instead of a jar, and it might be fun to do a blog towards the end of the year as a reflection of what has happened. 🙂
Great idea ute, i have a wall planner where i will write down good stuff that happens each day for the year. ALong the same thought process as the jar. Love your blog by the way. it has inspired me to return to writing mine. thanks so much. happy new year
Glad you are back to your blog I loved the latest posts. You have wonderful thoughts and it is great you share it with us. The planner is a good alternative to the jar. So happy to see you back blogging. Have a happy and great blogging year 2013!
I think the hardest part is getting started…..at least for me. I suppose that is true for any project. We have the willingness but need the will.
Sometimes guilt is a way to get me started. I will feel guilty when I read about everybody filling their little jars with notes of goodness. 😦
So count me in. 🙂
They say if you do something for 30 days it becomes a habit. So in February you will be well into it, let’s find lots of things to put into the jar! And you know I found so many little writing pads and note pads around the house I have enough to last me the year…. 🙂
Great you are with me here!
I love the idea! I really think it could bring positive energy to one’s life if observed.
Best Wishes,
Daniela
That is true and I am sure it will make life happier seeing more things daily which we can be greatful for.
Thank you Daniela, wishing you a happy 2013!
No. Sorry Ute. All my jam jars are full of lovely jam and my journal is full of names of potential suitoresses. But I’ll take a note of what you said. Now. Where shall I keep it ? 😉 Ralph x
Wow Ralph, you will be busy with this journal full of names … next year.. 🙂
You better start eating the jam… it might go out of date…… 🙂
Consult Star, she is wise, she will have great ideas to help you….. 🙂
Ute xx
Shucks ! Star just chewed up the note. She said can you do another post in which Daddy has to write a note so she can chew that one up as well. Star likes your game Ute 😀
I am glad she is having fun! Still very clever, if she eats all the notes you know where they are… inside her. Good filing system! 🙂
Okay I will go with that !!
🙂
I plan to do the jar I have quite a large one already, for me it will be easier to toss a scrap of paper in the jar than to sit down with a journal, and blog and read and ..and …and …and LOL
Wonderful idea
Great Len, I am sure it will bring us fun and a more in depth daily life. Lovely you are in on this. 🙂
Great idea…… Wish you a happy New Year!

The Sunshine Jar ~ My challenge to you my dear readers is to fill your jars or journals and at the end of 2013 share what your jars of sunshine held. May sunshine fill your lives with the joy of all the good things that await for you in 2013, even on the darkest days. Blessings ~ Patty
Thank you for hte reblog, thank you for spreading gratitude and kindness. Bless you Patty!
Thank you for the idea, I have mine decorated and already one slip of paper! I am ready to go – Patty
I got one in too! 🙂 Life is good!
Hi Ute…I think the jar idea is a great one. One special place to keep thoughts that will always be available and a great reminder. Jars (or tins..) are very useful being re-purposed. The adults in our family used to each keep a small one where they would drop ideas for small gifts for themselves. Then when someone in the family wanted to buy you something they wouldn’t have to ask what you wanted or needed….just go to your jar and pick something. You always got what you wanted.!! This idea expands on the principle.!! And yes, a great way to generate a blog post (or multiples..!!).
Be well,
H.
Howard you are right, mine will be a tin. The gift idea is great too, as sometimes we have ideas during the year but no birthday or Xmas, so we can write it down and check it out when needed. Thank you for your lovely comment. Ute x
Lovely idea!!! Happy day!
Thank you very much!
What wonderful ideas…especially the jar. I like that one a lot, so thanks for sharing it. You just gave me my best resolution for the year.
Happy New Year.
Rhonda
Fantastic, I am happy that you got a great idea from it. Have a wonderful year 2013!
I love the idea of a sunshine jar. Happy New Year!
Thank you Alice, mine is ready to go! 🙂 Ute x
I remember the jar idea…it is posted somewhere on my Pinterest boards and journaling is always a great idea! Wonderful stories come out of journals and we certainly do have a lot to be grateful for!
I found it on Facebook and found it so great so Ihad to share. Then again it popped up there after my posting…… It is good if it is shared as it is a great idea! We’ll compare towards the end of the year with all the lovleyness we hopefully collected.until then… start filling! 🙂
Beautiful way to start the new year! Cheers for 2013.
Thank you very much! Wishing you a great new year! 🙂
I’ve used the journal approach and really love the idea of the jar. Having the jar in a prominent place will be a constant reminder of the positives in my life. I’ve always had a job jar (a beautiful pottery jug that holds slips of paper with chores that can be accomplished in 15 minutes written down). I have chores such as sewing on a button, picking up extra mail that needs sorting, etc that never seems to get done unless it’s handled by a slip from the job jar. Equally I also have a joy jar that has a equal number of slips of paper that have hints for me to do that bring me total joy and allows me to participate in the activity for 15 minutes or more if time allows.
Your job jar idea and joy jar are equally good ideas, it is certainly more fun this way. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I think I need to get more jars. New year, new ideas, wishing you fabulous 2013! Ute x
what neat ideas…I wonder how long I’d actually keep it up though. I may try that jar idea.
Have a try it is fun! Thank you for poping in and commenting! Have fun filled happy year 2013.
Hallo Freund, danke für den Besuch.
Das Video ist von mir.
Gruss, Wolfgang
Vielen Dank Wolfgang!
Thank you for sharing these great ideas, Ute! I’d need a very big jar or journal to note all of the blessings I’ve been given. Having you and your blog in my life are two of them.
Russ
Oh you are too kind, thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Needing a big jar is a good sign, it means you really count your blessings and appreciate the little things in life too! I love that. I thought first it would be hard to write something in the journal every day and then I realizzes that there is so much in the day we need to be grateful for. It makes me think more about everything I used to take for granted. Ute x
