Open Doors

Standard

At my friend’s house, I noticed the beautiful wooden doors and commented on these lovely doors He answered: You know they are these things which connect the rooms and you can open them and enter into the room.

How so true this is:

Doors open opportunities. They need to be opened. Don’t be afraid to open them.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7.7-8

Don’t be focused on closing a door in your life, that you do not see the door which opens. Focus on the opening door and walk through. Find new opportunities, you never know where a new door leads to! Don’t dwell on past doors, go forward!

The Gift of Life

Standard

Give thanks each day for the gift of life …

Life is precious.

Life is short.

Life is a journey.

Life is a gift.

Slow down and think of your life, take a breath and look at the beauty around you, see the wonders of life and miracles happen. Live life consciously. Enjoy every moment.

Make wonderful moments into great memories.

Be thankful for this gift of life.

Sometimes we need something to happen that we really notice about how precious our life is. I was really understanding it when I had a tumour in my head removed at the age of 21 and I was wheeled into the operating theatre. I knew I am in God’s hands whether I will wake up afterwards or not.  I had given to me the gift of life a second time.

Then I gave the gift of life to my two wonderful children and they were truly gifts to me, as I was told I could not have children. Miracles happen all the time.

These events made me certainly think about life. Even if you do not believe in God or a God, life is precious and you need to treat it that way and be thankful.

Gift of life

We are surrounded by such unbelievable beauty. Life is enigmatic. Life is delicate. Life is painful. Life is inspiring. Life is love. Life is the tears we shed in joy and in sorrow. Life is magical. Life is the greatest gift! (Thomas Bergersen  – Illusions)

“God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.”
Voltaire

Jo Blankenburg – Elysium

Elysium – Jo Blankenburg

Always looking for more composers for Trailer Music I stumbled upon

Jo Blankenburg.

“Music for the senses”

Jo Blankenburg was born in 1972 in Germany now based in Los Angeles. He writes music for film and motion picture advertising. Some of his most popular tracks have been used in the advertising campaigns of the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, X-men, How to train your dragon and many others.

His first solo album Vendetta for Position Music was released in 2011, the songs of which have been used for the advertising campaigns of many major movies and television shows.

His second album Elysium has just been released by Position Music. It is one of those albums you like every single track. It is beautiful, emotional, fantastically composed music. It is available now on Amazon and iTunes.

It was recorded in the Czech Republic during 3 days. It contains choir lyrics in Latin and Sanskrit.  It features the Capellen Orchestra and Choir conducted by Petr Pololanik. (Same as Thomas Bergersen’s Illusion Album)

Elysium is out of this world. It is a feast for your ears and mind. Every single track has its own beauty, harmony, and style. The tracks are relaxing, slow, soft, epic, dramatic, melodic, action packed and you can let your imagination go. There is a sense of adventure, dramatic action and wonder, listening to the piano, strings, drums and choir in perfect harmony. The choir is not overpowering and you can still hum and sing with every track.

Jo Blankenburg is an extremely gifted and one of the best composers out there, for listeners who appreciate real beauty of music. I certainly became a big fan of his. He is close to his fans and keeps updating his facebook and has a great website.

Holiday Inn – Social skills

Social Skills

While tidying up I found an interesting piece of paper I kept for some reason. It was issued by the Holiday Inn. I used to work for the Holiday Inn back in the late 80’s and I loved it. It was then a very employee friendly company and hopefully still is. Colleagues were great to work with, the boss was nice and we all were a good team. We organised a fantastic Christmas Party (still got the video) where I was Liza Minelli in Cabaret.

We had great fun. Also Holiday Inn had the Employee of the Month Award, which gave you a picture with the boss, a certificate and a bonus in your salary. Great way to get people motivated. I loved my time there. My leaving present was a beautiful radio, which still plays in the kitchen.

Here is what I found on the paper I kept:

Some social skills reminders issued by Holiday Inn to their staff.

Speak to people: there is nothing as nice a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile to people: it takes seventy-two muscles to frown, only fourteen to smile.

Call people by name: the sweetest music to anyone’s ears is the sound of their own name.

Be friendly and helpful: if you would have friends, be friendly.

Be cordial: act as if everything is a genuine pleasure.

Be interested in people: you can like everyone if you try.

Be generous with praise: cautious with criticism.

Be considerate of the feelings of others: it will be appreciated.

Be thoughtful of the opinions of others: there are three sides to an argument: (a) yours, (b) the other fellow’s and (c) the right one.

You would think this is all common sense, specially working with customers at the front desk in a hotel.

Still I hope everyone has those social skills, life is much happier that way!

Simplify your Life

A friend of mine – also a life coach –  put this on his face book the other day:

“Life gets better when you SIMPLIFY !!!!!!! Remove the clutter, excess, unnecessary and everything that does not serve you well; and you will feel better. Things were meant to serve us, but these days it seems more that we serve things. Last month I went through my bank statements and decided to get rid of things I didn’t really NEED and now I have an extra $200 a month for the things I do. 🙂

Clothes that no longer fit can be given away making your closets less cluttered. Things you purchased that maybe get used once a year, but take up space; get rid of and maybe even get a few bucks for. Do you really need 6 shampoos, 100 candles, the exercise equipment that you know you won’t ever use, the stuff you picked up thinking you’d find a use for 2 years ago and haven’t? Do you really NEED a cell phone? Do you really NEED 500 channels on TV? I know this may sound scary but I’m doing this myself and am finding it very freeing!!!!!

All I’m saying is look at your life and SIMPLIFY it…. the economy isn’t going to get better and may even get a lot worse. Start preparing for your best future possible today!!!! ”

This gave me a push again, so I did start to go through my drawers, files etc.

Between files from 1997, I found this beautiful booklet, given to me by a friend at Christmas 2004 – a little book for thoughts quotes and memories….that is what is says on the front page.

I started to write clever quotes in like these:

“When you see advantages of something you must perceive the disadvantages also and vice versa. When you feel hatred and aversion, you should contemplate love and understanding. When you feel anger, use loving kindness.”

“When you think you’re not happy with your life always think that someone is happy simply because you exist.”

“When you know clearly , what you want , you’ll wake up every morning excited about life!”

“Fear less, hope more;

Eat less, chew more;

Whine less, breathe more;

Talk less, say more;

And all good things will be yours!”

–          Swedish Proverb

And finally

“True friends are only apart in distance, not in heart. Remember every good friend was once a stranger. If you truly complete the journey to your own heart, you will then find yourself in the heart of everyone else!”

…and that is all which is written in this beautiful booklet. Time to find some more inspirational quotes to fill this booklet up to re-read many times.

Anyone can give me some good ones?

I have managed to de-clutter a lot and feel really great, making room and myself happy.

How about de-cluttering your mind?

Get rid of negative, unpleasant thoughts; make room for positive, cheerful thoughts.

Get rid of unwanted memories; make room for new memories.

Get rid of destructive, angry thoughts; make room for loving, happy thoughts.

It’ll feel as good within yourself as tidying your closet.

I BELIEVE

Standard

I believe-

that we don’t have to change friends

if we understand that friends change.

I believe-

that true friendship continues to grow,

even over the longest distance.

same goes for true love.

I believe-

that it’s taking me a long time

to become the person I want to be

I believe-

that you should always leave loved ones

with loving words. It may be the

last time you see them.

I believe-

that you can keep going

long after you can’t.

I believe-

that we are responsible for what we do,

no matter how we feel.

I believe-

that either you control your attitude

or it controls you.

I believe-

that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe-

that my best friend and I can do anything

or nothing and have best time.

I believe-

that maturity has more to do with

what types of experiences you’ve had

and what you’ve learnt from them

and less to do with how many

birthdays you’ve celebrated.

I believe-

that is isn’t always enough to be

forgiven by others. Sometimes you

have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe-

no matter how bad your heart is broken

the world doesn’t stop for your grief.

I believe-

that our background and circumstances

may have influenced who we are,

but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe-

that two people can look at the exact

same thing and see something totally

different.

I believe-

that even when you think you have no more

to give, when a friend cries out to you

you will find the strength to help.
