E.S. Posthumus

E.S. Posthumus

You might not have heard the name E.S. Posthumus before, but you have certainly heard the music on many movie trailers or TV shows including the Themesong for “Cold Case”.  It was formed by brothers Helmut and Franz Vonlichten in 2000.  I wanted to share this amazing music with you as it has enchanted me completely.

E.S. Posthumus stands for Experimental Sounds, Posthumus stands for “all things past”.

Their music is classical with drum beats and electronic sounds, inspired by the Pythagorean Philosophy which states that “music is the harmonization of opposites; the conciliation of warring elements”. (Wikipedia)

Both brothers grew up in a musical home with their mother being a classically trained pianist, so they were exposed to all different music from an early age. Their music blends classical, symphonies, electronic, world music and choirs together. Helmut said in an interview : “We just gravitated toward everything we loved and found a way to make it all mesh together.”

Helmut studied Archeology and it shows in the Latin based Lyrics and the back story of the album Cartographer. There is no label with their music – “we are really grateful  that no label was willing to take any sort of a chance on us. We are in complete control of our careers, and we own all of our master recordings and publishing.  That is very liberating.”

There are 3 albums of E.S. Posthumus. I cannot decide which one is my favourite, as all 3 have epic, relaxing and emotionally charged compositions. They can be downloaded via and

Unfortunately Franz Vonlichten died unexpectedly in May 2010.

Helmut wrote this to his fans in July 2010

Dear Friends:
This has been an amazing year for ES Posthumus. Not only did we release our best selling album “Makara”, but we opened the Super Bowl with Jay Z. However, with the sweetness of life often there follows the bitterness of mortality….. my brother, Franz, passed away in May. It was entirely unexpected.

The vast majority of music that we created as ESP is in your hands… there may be 1 or 2 additional songs that become available before the year end; unfortunately, I cannot promise anything.

As for me, I will begin to rebuild what was washed away, albeit in a form other than ES Posthumus.  My brother and I created ESP together and we’ll “exit stage left” together as well.

Franz was an extraordinary talent…. among other things, I will miss his creative ear and incomparable musical palette. Most of all, however, I will miss his wit and humor…. a consummate storyteller who found a punch line in even the most mundane scenarios.

Finally, thanks to every one of you… as you know, our success was truly “grassroots” … it was driven by a sense of community and word of mouth…. you made it happen for us… we are eternally grateful..

Be well,

In November 2011, Helmut has formed a new band called “Les Friction” with Nihl Finch and Paint. His first new track is called ”Torture”

Amazing Friendships

This is for all the wonderful friends out there around the world, it is great that you exist, continue to be amazing and valuable to your friends. We need you, love you and appreciate you more than you think.

Good friends are the greatest treasure that a person can have, without a doubt. Today would be a great day to let your friends know how important they are to you and how much you love them.

True Friends go through thick and thin with you.

True Friends cheer you up, when you are down.

True Friends are happy with you.

True Friends can be sad with you

True Friends laugh with you.

True Friends listen to you.

True Friends lift you up.

True Friends can sit comfortably in silence with you.

True Friends are there for you in good times and in bad times.

True Friends touch your heart.

True Friends believe in you.

Friends are priceless and valuable. – Don’t take them for granted.

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”

“A Friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway!!”

“There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.”  – Linda Grayson

“A friend is someone who can see the truth and pain in you even when you are fooling everyone else.”

“Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest…It’s about who came, and never left your side…”

To all my friends who are reading this right now, you KNOW that I love you and cherish you and our friendship.

I want to thank all my wonderful friends from the bottom of my heart, for their friendship and supporting me all the way!

I love to laugh and enjoy good comedies, have a good laugh with friends, laugh at a good joke and like to make others laugh. Unfortunately I can never remember jokes, but hey there are enough reasons in life to laugh at and about. When you arrive at work in the mornings, have a laugh with your colleagues and the day will be enjoyable, bright and happy.

I always find myself trying to find some type of opportunity to laugh. Try to incorporate laughter into your day. Go online and watch a video that makes you laugh. Call up a friend or family member that you find hilarious.

Laughter is a part of human nature, and for something so truly unique to humans, it seems strange that so little is known about how and why we do it. Laughter is largely a reflex to things we find humorous. Chemically it has to with releasing endorphins and the word dopamine comes to mind, but do we need to know this? Not really because laughing is great, we do not need a scientific reason to laugh, we just like to laugh. It makes us feel good and happy.

Many people agree that laughter protects one’s sanity too, which is probably related to its ability to release stress and ease tension.

ISAAC – Laughter in the bible

The name Isaac is from Hebrew and means   “ I will laugh”, this is because Sarah, his mother declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me.”  Genesis 21:6

In Ecclesiastes 3:4 it says: “A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.”

When do we laugh?

We laugh at a joke or a funny expression or picture.

We laugh when we are happy.

We laugh when we get tickled.

We laugh when others laugh and we join in.

We laugh when we feel relieved.

We can laugh when we feel embarrassed.

Laughter is infectious. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Basically it makes you feel great.

Have you ever laughed so much that that tears ran down your cheeks? And you feel you cannot stop?

Human beings love to laugh, and the average adult laughs 17 times a day. Laughter is a great thing — that’s why we’ve all heard the saying,

“Laughter is the best medicine.” There is strong evidence that laughter can actually improve health and help fight disease.

Laughter relaxes the whole body.

Laughter boosts the immune system.

Laughter protects the heart.

Laughter is stress relieving.

Laughter makes you feel good.

Laughter gives you the courage and strength. Even in the most difficult of times, a laugh–or even simply a smile–can go a long way toward making you feel better. And laughter really is contagious—just hearing laughter primes your brain and readies you to smile and join in the fun.

What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul.  ~Yiddish Proverb

A laugh is a smile that bursts.  ~Mary H. Waldrip

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.  ~Irish Proverb

There is a special form of Yoga called Laughter Yoga, Yes you read it correctly a great stress relieve.  The best place for it is with Yoga Nisha, a fantastic lady who can show you joyful living! Here is the link to her website, check it out.

Go on, have a laugh!

Thought of the day

I love listening to people, everywhere I go.

Unfortunately it is amazing that many people rather complain than find something nice and uplifting to say. As I am a positive thinking person, seeing good in everybody and anything,  I was told: “you never give up hope?” Ok some people thrive being miserable, but hey that is not the way and it cannot make them feel so good.

When something new is going to happen, people see it sometimes with fear, it is outside their comfort zone, and so they see the future in a negative way. They won’t know how it will affect them and how they will have to react.  They will tell you this “might “ or “could” happen. Unfortunately they only come up with negative ideas.

For Example

The Olympics is just around the corner from where I live, I basically can see the stadium from my house. I personally find it all very exciting. Of course we did pay a lot of money for it and we need extra parking permits for our own cars in front of our own house. Lots of people are pretty gloomy about what might happen, when the Olympics actually start. It is a controversial subject, but I am using it at the moment as an example.

Yes, it will be crowded and probably not easy to get around for shopping or work. My answer: Think about it and think of alternative arrangements, we can always walk a bit more.

I say go with the flow, see how it is when it happens. Is it worth to get worried about something which hasn’t happened? This is unnecessary worry and will not change what will happen.

Let’s see the positive aspect:

Our whole town is being revamped, new road surfaces, houses being refurbished, more flowers on the lamp posts, new pavements, more benches. My town looks beautiful, much nicer than last year. It lifts the spirit and it is a joy living here. The town is looked after a lot more by the council (and no the council tax did not go up), more street cleaners, altogether more services.

The Olympics will only last 2 weeks, plus another 2 for the Para Olympics, so all aspects which bother people will finish after this time but the refurbishment of our area will last a lot longer. That is positive isn’t it?   Well I certainly am looking forward to it all.

TRAILERMUSIC for Beginners

Trailer Music for Beginners

Everybody has heard Trailermusic, be it on TV for new series or in the cinema for new films or through the computer gaming industry.

I am a new but huge fan of Trailer Music and thought I share this with you as there is so much beautiful music in this genre. It is almost like classical but some much more monumental, some very emmotional and some just plain epic.

Movie trailer music: it’s not what you think

What is Trailer Music?

Trailer Music is the background music used for film previews, which is not always from the film’s soundtrack. Sweeping melodies and epic themes composed specifically to accompany motion picture footage, that has been crafted into a “trailer” – a mini story which serves to excite and inspire audiences to attend a movie.

The music is here to stop your heart, steal your breath and leave you gasping for more – so you really can’t wait to watch the film. Because the score for a movie is usually composed after the film is finished (which is much after trailers are released), a trailer will incorporate music from other sources.

The music used in the trailer may be:

  • Music from the score of other movies.
  • Popular or well-known music, often chosen for its tone, appropriateness of a lyric, or familiarity.
  • Classical music, such as Mozart’s Requiem or Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
  • Specially composed music.
  • “Library” music, which is previously, composed production music.

There are different kinds of trailers:

  • Theatrical Trailers – the official theatrical piece often 2 and half minutes long
  • Teaser Trailers – a short theatrical preview while the film is still being shot, minute and half long
  • TV Spots – 60 seconds long- for special events, sports events for example, or advertising a new series on TV.

Trailer Music is becoming more popular and there are many music companies out there, producing this music.  The Fan base is growing steadily and there are fan clubs and facebook/ twitter groups, you can look into if you are interested.

Trailer music library companies typically do not offer their music to the public and develop and license music exclusively to the motion picture studios. Because trailers are released on the Web, fans are asking how they can get hold of the music. So Immediate Music did release a commercial album called “Trailerhead,” Reeltime Music with a double CD called “Coming Soon” and Two Steps From Hell with an album called “Invincible” and “Archangel”. They also can be downloaded on iTunes, or Amazon.

Famous trailer Music Companies are:

  • Immediate Music, a trailer library run by Jeff Fayman with his partner, Yoav Goren.
  • Two Steps from Hell – founded by Nick Phoenix and Thomas Bergersen
  • Audio Machine – Paul Dinletir
  • E.S.Posthumus
  • Sonic Symphony
  • X-Ray dog
  • Non Stop Music
  • City of the Fallen
  • Brickwall Audio  – Erik Ekholm
  • Les Friction
  • Brand X Music
  • Future World Music – Armen Hambar
  • Position music

Please note this is not a complete list.

The art of scoring a trailer requires not only a certain style of thinking, but an entirely different approach to composition. Trailer scores are commissioned by production companies via “trailer houses”, which produce the final edit. They typically last two minutes and are split into three parts: beginning, middle and end, usually all containing different pieces and styles of music. The goal is to produce a heavily briefed, tightly wound and meticulously edited piece of work in which every second counts. (John Beal)

The team making the trailer selects tracks from these albums, licenses them (fees run $5,000 to $10,000 per track for international use, according to Bergersen), and then edits the available footage with that music. A trailer usually features at least three musical tracks. A typical formula, especially for dramas and event movies, is a soft start that gradually builds, leading to a climax that fades and “hopefully leaves people stunned,” Bergersen explained. (Excerpt Los Angeles Times By Emily Rome, April 8, 2012)

For Two Steps From Hell, selling music commercially is a more lucrative business than it is for many other libraries. It has sold more than 300,000 copies of its two albums on iTunes — a robust supplement to licensing music from its 17 albums available to clients.

Here are some famous composers of trailer music- again this is not a complete list, there are certainly a lot more, and also lots of young budding composers with lots of talent.

  • Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix formed Two steps from Hell
  • Mark Petrie – wrote the amazing spiderman trailer
  • Paul Dinletir – Audiomachine
  • Erik Ekholm – Brickwall Audio
  • Zak Hemsey – wrote the Inception Trailer
  • Steve Jablonski – wrote trailer for Transformers
  • Hans Zimmer – too numerous to write all down
  • John Beal – Hunt for red October trailer, the Matrix trailer
  • Jo Blankenburg – Position Music
  • Thomas Adam Habuda – Media Music Factory
  • Krzysztof Wencel – Polish pianist and composer
  • Daniel Yount – Yogscast music composer
  • Armen Hambar – Future World Music
  • Rick Horrocks – RH Soundtracks

If you like what you see and hear, check out will give you more in dept information like interviews etc. And join the already existing fans.

Lots of Music samples of the above composers can be heard on “youtube” or “soundcloud”.

If this music gets your fantasy and imagination going why not write a story to some great epic trailer music. Have a look what can be done on the website below:

The Legend of Pandora –

There is so much more beautiful music but it would get too long here, so you tube the composers and enjoy!

The glorious 1935 film TOP HAT with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers has finally come to London’s West End. After 77 years, this is the first time a stage version of TOP HAT has ever been produced. It is a giddy, glorious celebration of 1930s song and dance, featuring magnificent sets and over 200 costumes.

The music and lyrics by Irvin Berlin, feature some of his greatest hits including Let’s Face the Music and Dance, Cheek to Cheek, Putting on the Ritz and of course, Top Hat. Plotwise this musical comedy centres on the theme of mistaken identity. Jerry Travers, played by Tom Chambers, is the chief victim of the farcical situations that occur when Miss Dale Tremont, portrayed by Summer Strallen, with whom he has fallen in love, believes him to be the husband of a recently married friend she has not yet met. The deception persists throughout most of the play until the mistake is realised and a happy ending is guaranteed.

In detail

Strictly Come Dancing fans will be impressed with the charming Tom Chambers’, playing Jerry Travers, stunning acting, singing and dancing skills.  His tap dancing is superb. He certainly proves to be much more than an actor. He seemingly enjoyed playing the role as I watched him smiling during all the dance routines. It has to be emphasized that the delightful and funny dance of Tom Chambers with the hat stand is choreographed by Tom himself. Summer Strallen, beautiful in all her costumes, plays her character brilliantly, sings beautifully and dances as if on clouds and it looks classy, light and easy.  There are lots of one liners, jokes and laughs throughout the musical. The funny character of Alberto Beddini, the clichéd foreigner, is played by Ricardo Afonso who is fantastic and even though he really just loves himself he is very lovable with his Italian accent and slighty mixed up and, therefore, amusing sayings. Horace and Madge Hardwick, played by Martin Ball and Vivian Parry are very strong characters and it would never be as humorous without them and their jokes about marriage.  Last but not least Horace’s butler, Bates played by Stephen Boswell is unique and well portrayed.  The perfect butler with attitude but very loyal to his boss.

The talented ensemble round the picture up, they carry the stage changes through and complement the individual dancers and singers perfectly.  The costumes are   30s style with men in top hats and ties and the ladies in beautifully flowing dresses which make watching the dances a feast for the eyes. The 15 men and women in the orchestra also played the famous numbers wonderfully and must get a special mention. The whole team performed so well together.

It is a bubbly, swinging musical, set in the 1930’s, brilliantly performed by a talented cast. It has charm and class and for those who love the glamour and glitz of the 1930s, flowing dance routines and fabulous music, this show is perfect for you.  One cannot sit still, or even stop oneself humming to the well known numbers. It wants you to be part of the cast, tapping along…..or is that just me?

I certainly recommend this show for a light hearted, cheerful evening out, probably complemented by a dinner beforehand.

On February 14th, 2006  Two Steps From Hell was born. Nick Phoenix and Thomas Bergersen joined forces to write original music for movie trailers. In those short 6 years they have been featured in hundreds of movies, including some of the biggest blockbusters of recent time.

Everyone has heard their music most of us not knowingly. Their trailer music featured for films like Superman, Tron, Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, Twilight Saga, Narnia, Star Trek,  X Men and also series on Television like, Frozen Planet, Dr. Who, Merlin and many more. Their compositions can be heard in “Britain got talent”, the “X Factor”, “Strictly come dancing” and some football events etc. They can also be heard on the History channel quite frequently.

Here is a listing with all their albums, whereas they cannot be bought except the last two featured on this page – Invincible and Archangel.

“Our music is not sold commercially and is available for licensing only. As the style of the music is geared for movie trailers, some television and media markets, it is only available to music supervisors, editors and producers at our clients’ workplaces. Given the state of the music industry at the current moment, we find that this is the most sensible model for us. We appreciate the fans out there that love trailer music , actively participate in the various forums and send us email. Thank you so much for your comments.”

This was their first album .

This first release displays the versatility, sophistication and range of the Two Steps philosophy.

Two Steps From Hell released SHADOWS AND NIGHTMARES, unique in its artistic melding of live orchestra effects and custom sound design.

Two Steps From Hell released DYNASTY, an epic explosion from Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix, featuring The Angeles Chorale and The Capellen Philharmonic Orchestra.

On July 9th, 2007, Two Steps From Hell released ALL DRUMS GO TO HELL: a furious, rhythmic explosion of drums from Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix. This release features 64 tracks of percussive urgency, fantastic rhythmic artistry, massive hits and stunning rhythmic rises.

A stunning fusion of Electronica, Dark metal, Orchestra and Other-Worldly Rock. 18 original compositions from Two Steps co-founder: Nick Phoenix. Pathogen has a lot of driving electronica, but also features other-worldly rock and eerie, horror rock tracks, as well. Pathogen is set up as a listening experience, and so is not categorized. This is perhaps the most fun I’ve had as a composer, and the tracks are fun to listen to, as well.” -Nick Phoenix

21 original compositions by Two Steps co-founder, Thomas J. Bergersen. NEMESIS is all about grandeur and monumental power, but these cues are undeniably, masterful compositions. NEMESIS features the seductive voice of Norwegian Merethe Soltvedt.

Close to 100 different pieces… this huge collection of evocative music covers a lot of musical ground, with a primary focus on human emotions. Sweeping strings, beautiful angelic choirs, dramatic vocals, ethnic instruments, modern electronic elements, gorgeous sound design, all interacting in powerful synergy to provide music that is guaranteed to touch the hearts and souls of listeners all around the world.

LEGEND is an epic drama cd, and is quintessential trailer music, but manages to bring magic and  artistry to the genre. Films like Indiana Jones, Mummy 3, No Country For Old Men, WALL-E, Horton Hears A Who, Chronicles of Narnia 2, The Happening, Hellboy 2, The Hulk, Speed Racer, Jumper, and Valkyrie.

Terrifying Audio From Disturbed Minds Interspersed With Haunting Themes And Beautiful Melodies From The Criminally Insane.

Beware: Highly infectious. Use at own risk.

Ashes combines innovative new sound design with orchestral recordings. The result is a hi-fi horror/thriller release unlike any other.

A collection of orchestral music that covers styles of comedy, drama, adventure and family films, performed by the 80-piece world class Capellen Orchestra.

This album captures the true spirit of Hollywood with memorable themes, playful orchestrations and the power you’ve come to expect from Two Steps From Hell.

Composers Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix once again blur the line between film-score and trailer music, and bring something fresh to the world of film advertising.

Power Of Darkness was released March 12 2010. One year in the making, it features 32 compositions recorded with the Capellen Orchestra in Czech, drums recorded in Los Angeles, various soloists from around the globe and choir recorded in Utah.

This stunning sequel to “Dreams and Imaginations” takes you on a journey through a seamless fusion of acoustic and electronic elements. Featuring 33 tracks, “Illumina” offers warm, elegant and beautiful music played by some of LA’s best string players and vocalists.  30 of the 33 tracks on the album are from Thomas Bergersen, (Nick Phoenix has written “Missing Letters”, “Rapture” and “Prelude to a Nightmare”). Because the music isn’t really typical of what Two Steps are known for they decided not to release this one to the public, but perhaps some cues will be featured on a future release.

Sit back and enjoy a different side of Two Steps.

Finally, Two Steps releases a very focused and original drones/trailer toolkit library. There is some amazing sound design in here. But “All Drones Go To Hell” takes the concept a step further and adds live cello, duduk, ney flute, irish lo whistle, electric violin and some incredible female vocalists, creating some very inspiring sound beds. Soloists include Azam Ali (300) and Tina Guo (Sherlock Holmes).

Two Steps From Hell presents “Balls To The Wall.” Epic drums and furiously pounding sound design from the depths of….. well you know where. These extraordinarily high quality sound beds have been produced by Nick Phoenix, Thomas Bergersen and Alex Pfeffer.

Two years in the making, a lifetime of inspiration. Two Steps From Hell redefine the word “Epic” with the release “NERO”. 40 new compositions from Two Steps From Hell composers Thomas Bergersen & Nick Phoenix.

Two Steps From Hell’s first publicly available album, “Invincible” features popular tracks such as “Moving Mountains”, “Hearth of Courage”, “Master of Shadows”, “Freedom Fighters” and many more. A best seller on iTunes, persisting for over a year in the top 10 list it is the most successful contemporary classical album of all time.

It is available on Audio CD on, as well as digital downloads (MP3) on and iTunes.

“Archangel” is Two Steps From Hell’s second public album and includes other favourites such as “Mercy in Darkness”, “Titan Dune”, “Atlantis”, “Immortal Avenger” and more. It is available on Audio CD on, as well as digital downloads (MP3) on and iTunes.

Thomas Bergersen released his own album which is available on Audio CD on, as well as digital downloads (MP3) on and iTunes.

Illusions – Thomas Bergersen

Thomas Bergersen – Illusions

Thomas J. Bergersen is part of the group “Two Steps from Hell” together with Nick Phoenix. They founded the group 2006. Since then they went from strength to strength with the trailer music they compose.
Thomas Bergersen originally from Norway, has released his first own album called “Illusions”, and it is just out of this world. It has 19 tracks and it takes you on a journey of different styles of music. It has taken Thomas over 3 years to complete it, as he travelled to find different influences for his music. You can clearly hear traces of folk music, the mystical voices from the Middle East, voices of Bulgarian people and lyrical woodwinds of Armenia.

He says: “the purpose was to bring all the wonderful musical wonders of the world together in a big collective hug.”

Let your imagination run wild and enjoy his music. It is a festival for your ears and you will want to listen to it again and again. Beautiful compositions, complemented with beautiful voices. In the CD sleeve Thomas put up notes for every piece he created explaining the music, why he created some and who the vocalists are. Every music lover who likes a good full orchestra will enjoy this CD to the full. My personal favourites are “Sonera” and ” Immortal”, still the whole album is a feast. I feel very passionate about this music and I like lots of people to know about it.

See the beautiful comment of the track “Gift of Life” below,

“We are surrounded by such unbelievable beauty. Life is enigmatic. Life is delicate. Life is painful. Life is inspiring. Life is love. Life is the tears we shed in joy and in sorrow. Life is magical. Life is the greatest gift!” – Thomas Bergersen.

Every piece is unique, so we have 19 different pieces of music, no similarities, no repetitions just beautifully crafted music. The beautiful voices featured on this album are: Vlasisleva Vasileva from Bulgaria, Elitsa Todorova, Norwegian singer Merethe Solvedt, Kate St. Pierre, Jenifer Thigpen with Colin O’Malley and virtuoso cellist Tina Guo.

Introducing Louise L. Hay

Louise L. Hay has written many books on Positive thinking and living. She is a worldwide known writer and speaker. I wanted to share her books and ideas with you!

Changing your thought pattern, believing in yourself, loving yourself and changing your attitudes will make your life positive and happy. It really works! Just reading doesn’t make a difference, apply her philosophy to your life. It helps you dealing better with stress, anger and the ups and downs in your life.

We only have one life, make it a good one!

Life is here to enjoy.

I have read her book “You can heal your life” and bought affirmation cards, her calendar, power thoughts and “Heart Thoughts”.

“Heart thoughts” is the most beautiful book I have ever seen, each page differently beautifully crafted, colourful, heart warming, you want to look in it again and again!

Excerpts from Heart Thoughts:

In order to change your life outside, you must change inside. The moment you are willing to change, it is amazing how the universe begins to help you. It brings you what you need.

What is important in this moment is what you are choosing to think, believe and say right now. These thoughts and words will create your future. Your thoughts form the experiences of tomorrow, next week, next month and next year.

Quotes from positive thinking affirmations:

The key to happiness is realizing that it is not what happens to you that matters, but it’s how you choose to respond.

You don’t have to let what others say affect you negatively. Others may say the words, but you choose your attitude!

Small summary from “You can heal your life”:

Yourself: If you are unhappy with your life and yourself, and you are willing to do some changes then this book is for you. Awareness is the first step to healing or changing. Your mind is a tool, use it to your advantage. Do mental house cleaning – out with negative thoughts and in with positive ones instead. Start loving yourself. You are unique, amazing and valued, don’t put yourself down, but love yourself as you are, feel good about yourself, enjoy looking at yourself. Train your mind, you are in control of your current thoughts, if you don’t like them, change them. Daily affirmations help, repeat them in the mornings, evenings and start believing them. Like: You are wonderful and I love you. This is one of the best days in my life. Whatever you need will come to you. I deserve the best and I accept the best now.

Past: don’t let the past hold you back. The past is gone, it cannot be changed, you learnt from it, but it is past. You live today and for the future. Release feelings of guilt, revenge and practice forgiveness.

Prosperity: You deserve to prosper, enjoy when friends invite you, accept compliments, don’t turn them down. Enjoy paying your bills, stop worrying about the money. If you pay with joy you open the free flowing channel of abundance. Treat your money as a friend, not as something you wad up and crush into your pocket. The universe is lavish and abundant and it is your right to be supplied with everything you need. Rejoice in others good fortune, open your arms and be receptive to all what the universe has to give you.

Your financial life is like a garden. If you tend a garden carefully it’s going to be a lot more beautiful than if you simply water it half heartedly now and then. Suze Orman

About Louise L. Hay:

She was born in Los Angeles to a poor mother who remarried Louise’s violent stepfather. With 5 she was raped by a neighbour, at 15 she dropped out of  school, became pregnant and with 16 gave up her newborn baby girl to be adopted.  In 1954 she married an English business man, who left her after 14 years of marriage for another woman.

She then found the church of religious Science that taught her the power of thought! She studied different authors who claimed that positive thinking could change people’s material circumstances and that the body can be healed through positive thinking. She became a popular speaker in the church and started counselling clients. This then blossomed into a career.

In 1977/78 Louise found she had cervical cancer and came to the conclusion that by holding on to her resentment for her childhood abuse and rape she had contributed to its onset. She reported how she had refused conventional treatment and put her philosophies into practice and began a regime of forgiveness, coupled with therapy, nutrition, reflexology physiotherapy and occasional enemas.  Within 6 month she was healed of cancer.

In 1976 she wrote her first book: “Heal your body”, to discuss the connection between mind and body. Followed by “You can heal your life” in 1984. These books became bestsellers. Through Louise’s healing techniques and positive philosophy, millions have learned how to create more of what they want in their lives, including more wellness in their bodies, minds and spirits, how to love themselves and healing their lives. In it, Louise explains how our beliefs and ideas about ourselves are often the cause of our emotional problems and physical maladies and how, by using certain tools, we can change our thinking and our lives for the better.

Louise now heads Hay House, a successful publishing company. What began as a small venture in the living room of her home has turned into a prosperous corporation that has sold millions of books and tapes worldwide.

Now in her 80’s she is still travelling and enjoys painting, gardening and dancing at her home in San Diego, California. (Excerpts from her website)

Music – Life’s Medicine

Music – life’s medicine

Music is like medicine, it can make you feel better, it can have healing attributes, makes you feel happy, and altogether life seems better. Music can take to different heights, let your imagination go and you are one with it, so close your eyes and let the music flow through you.

Here some very interesting quotations, so true!

“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” – Plato

“Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul” – Plato
“Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.” – Frank Zappa
“Without music, life is a journey through a desert. ” – Pat Conroy

“Music is Love in search of a word.” Sidney Lanier

Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.
